The Story So Far
Through a persistent focus on lowering our carbon footprint, strong partnerships with Social Enterprises ($400,000 spent since 2018), and constant innovation in the space of Sustainability, Chatswood Chase Sydney is always finding new ways to fulfil our ever-present goal of Enriching Community Experiences.
Sustainability is an ongoing commitment by Chatswood Chase Sydney and Vicinity Centres (our overarching property group). It is carried out in partnership with our retailers, and with the general community. Sustainability remains a constant focus for us to reduce our negative externalities and be a positive influence on the community that we are a part of. Highlights at Chatswood Chase Sydney
Reduced Energy Use
From 2016 to 2020 we have measured a 20% reduction in energy usage
Our Carbon Footprint
From 2016 to 2020 a 29% reduction in kilograms of Carbon Dioxide. Targeting Net Zero emissions by 2030
Reduced Water Use
From 2016 to 2020 we achieved a 19% reduction in water use throughout the centre
Our Ratings & Awards
2021- NABERS Energy 4.5 Stars, NABERS Water 2.5 Stars 2020 - Green Star Performance 3 Stars
Waste Diversion
Diversion is a measure of waste that is diverted from landfill. Our diversion rate has risen from 57% to 68%. Including more than 500 tonnes of organic waste
Green Initiatives
The centre has spent over $320,000 in LED lighting upgrades which are far more efficient for power usage
